Facing the Coming Sunsets

“Because he lives, I can face tomorrow, because he lives, all fear is gone…because I know he holds the future, and life is worth the living just because he lives.” Lyrics – Because He Lives by Bill Gaither.

Hello there all!

Yes,  many sunsets are ahead and life is worth living because of Him!  Hi, my name is Nancy and I have been married for 39 years to the same man.  Hubby was talking about how to cook sausages  just a couple days ago and how you have to be sure to take them out of their casing so they will cook better with the eggs. I assented and thought, isn’t it funny how no matter how old we get, we are still learning, growing, and adjusting to each season of life that comes along?…. whether it be something simple like cooking eggs and sausages, or something major like having to fix up our house and move.

We have raised our family, worked for years, been involved in church, made new friends and said good bye to old ones.  Hubby and I  used to be younger and more energetic….now the joints and muscles tend to ache when we do something that takes more energy than normal. So I am wondering, how do we need to change for this coming season of life? What happens when you retire? Do we move, get part time jobs, do volunteer service? Find new hobbies? What about traveling or learning new hobbies?

By no means do I intend anything discussed to be the only way to resolve an issue.  However, since most of us  are with the Baby Boomer generation; I imagine there are a lot of us in this age range facing these upcoming challenges. I would love to hear from some of you and have you share what you are doing and what decisions you have made as you approach what I call the sunset years of life.  One of my main sources of wisdom is the Bible and I try to quote verses and I will encourage reading it as well as sometimes discussing certain things that bless me from it.  I also read frequently and will refer to or share certain books that I find helpful.   I will be doing some researching of my own naturally as well, and trying to blog about this experience.

By now the Christmas season is done and the New Year is starting. I hope you all enjoyed yours and are ready to start fresh and anew in 2017. It is the end of a year,  a season or stage of life, but it is also a beginning. Our Christmas was very nice, but this year ahead holds some transitioning to do in our family. Come join me on at: Colors of Sunset to journey together and let’s explore the colors of these ‘sunset years.’!

If you have the chance I would greatly love to hear from you.   Please to this survey and let me know your concerns.   It would help to know if there are certain issues you’d like to see addressed.  Thanks so much!
